About our individual therapy work

Chris Armstrong

"I bring an interactive and relational style to the therapy. Over the years of being in practice I have been humbled by how the quality of my relationship with the people I work with profoundly impacts and promotes emotional healing. I work to create a trusting collaborative process, which makes use of the here and now experience both between us and within each of us to strengthen my client’s capacity to reflect on their own dynamics and affect change in their life."

Lou Dangles

"I believe it is important to be in a real conversation with the people I work with. Outcome studies consistently show that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the key variable in effective therapy. Research on attachment validates the idea that deep emotional change is most likely to occur in the context of a trusting, secure relationship. Whether I am working individually, with a couple, or in group, my intention is to make myself available for a dynamic collaborative conversation that cultivates a trustworthy relationship in which to reflect and make meaningful change."

About our couples work

Couples often arrive in therapy with a compelling legal brief documenting grievances and the other’s egregious behavior.  It is not uncommon that they also arrive with a hope (conscious or not) that if they can demonstrate to the therapist how the other guy is the problem, the road to resolution will open. Our approach emphasizes an empathetic recognition of partner’s mutual contributions to relationship difficulties. We work to promote a collaborative healing process between partners.
